FreeBSD VPS's

Our FreeBSD VPS's are hosted in the U.S. and built on the FreeBSD 7.0 operating system, Dual Xeon 2.8Ghz processors (or better), 4 Gb of RAM, and 2x 500 (or better) RAID1 disks for data security.

Each virtual machine is implemented using FreeBSD's built-in "EZ-Jail" provisioning utility which allows us to create new VPS's on the fly. We can create a backup FTP account for your VPS, as requested. Details of this are provided in our welcome emails.

When it comes to upgrades, nothing is more simpler here at JVDS. We can seamlessly perform upgrade operations at any time without causing any downtime for the specified VPS. We can even enhance it's security by installing a firewall to prevent hackers from compromising it.

The best part of purchasing a JVDS VPS is the control. Since each client has root access, all aspects of your FreeBSD account can be manipulated and configured easily as the root user. We generally make all ports available, so you can utilize them for your specific needs. It is important to note that we do not provide any control panels for FreeBSD Jails. If you do need a web based control panel, we would unofficially recommend that you use Webmin. It is important that you understand that we cannot provide any guidance or support for that.

Unfortunately, there are some minor limitations on our FreeBSD VPS's:

» ICMP-based network communications don't work. (e.g. ping commands)
» Clients are limited to only one (1) IP address.
